Manchester 2 Day Block - Classroom Training Course
The SSSTS classroom based course (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) is intended for those who have, or are about to acquire, supervisory responsibilities. It provides an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues, as well as the legal responsibilities relevant to a construction site supervisors work activities. Certification for the SSSTS course is valid for 5 years. To remain certified, you will need to take a refresher course before the expiry date on your certificate.

SSSTS Classroom Based Courses - Manchester
The online Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme course, or SSSTS, is a qualification created by CITB to establish a clear industry-wide standard for the management of health and safety on construction sites. An SSSTS qualification is shown in the Approved Code of Practice for Construction Regulations, it is considered to be a key requirement for anyone who acts in a supervisory role on a construction site.
SSSTS classroom based course mandatory entry requirements
► To be able to read, write and understand English to a good level. Please contact us if you have any concerns in this area
► You will need to provide a valid photo ID on the first day of the course, such as a copy of your passport or driving licence
► If you need to re-sit the test, you must do this within 90 days of the original course date at an additional charge

The SSSTS course is for you if you’re considering, or already have, or are set to take on supervisory responsibility at an organisation and need official training and qualifications for the role.
SSSTS classroom based course pre-course preparation

SSSTS course agenda
This is a highly interactive course taught through case studies, classroom discussion, group work and individual or group presentations. You will need to do some self-study outside the course.
► The Health and Safety at Work Act
► Specific site issues that challenge supervisors on a daily basis

► Behavioural safety
► Theory Test – A number of multiple choice and written questions, delegates must score 80% or more to pass.
SSSTS course agenda when studying in a classroom
On day 2 you will complete a paper based exam
► Individual SSSTS exam papers are assigned to each course being taught.
► On the day of your exam the tutor will hand out an your exam. The tutor will guide all delegates through the format of the exam and exam process to ensure everyone understands what is required.
► The exam paper is made up of two parts and you have 30 minutes to complete the exam.
Part A - 22 multiple choice questions worth one mark each (4 of which are Safety Critical questions and the four MUST be answered correctly).
Safety Critical Questions - are always based around the following subjects:
- Asbestos
- Respiratory Hazards
- Manual Handling
- Work at Height
Part B - 3 written questions worth 2 or 3 marks each.
The examination lasts for 30 minutes.
During the examination the first 20 minutes are undertaken with no reference material. However, for the last 10 minutes delegates are allowed to use the GE706 & GT700 and notes.
If delegates do not achieve 81% but score above 70% they qualify for an immediate resit. ( a different examination paper)
Delegates scoring less than 70% would be required to book another SSSTS course
At the end of the SSSTS online course you will be have an understanding of:
► Health and safety law and how it applies to supervisors
► Your supervisory responsibilities in controlling site safely
► Risk assessments and the need for method statements
► Effective site inductions, toolbox talks and method statement briefings
► Monitoring site activities effectively
► Timely intervention when bad practice is identified
Certification for the SSSTS course is valid for 5 years.
